Either way it’s an opportunity to show your appreciation for your loved ones.
Whether you think the day is romantic or commercial shouldn’t you be telling the people you love that you care about them every day not just on Valentine’s Day?
One way to show you care is to give something you have put time and effort into.
My daughter and I love baking together and rather than buying something ridiculously expensive what about making a homemade gift for a fraction of the price?
Valentine’s Day Brownies
Here is my favourite Brownie recipe (it’s very quick & simple).
200g Plain Chocolate
175g Unsalted Butter
120g Plain Flour
Melt the butter & chocolate in a bowl in the microwave.
Stir in the sugar then the flour and add the lightly beaten eggs.
Pour into a tin lined with parchment paper and cook for 25 minutes on 170c.
Remember that the brownie continues to cook when you take it out of the oven so don’t worry if it looks a little undercooked.
Chilli Chocolate Brownie
My favourite at the moment is Chilli Chocolate Brownie, don’t worry it’s not too fiery, the chilli just intensifies the chocolaty flavour.
Add ½ teaspoon of chilli powder to the mixture and sprinkle some flakes on the top or if you don’t fancy a hot one, try fresh raspberries and chunks of white chocolate or salted caramel – simply delicious.
Enjoy Sunday - Happy Singles Awareness Day or Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
