30 plus years on it’s sad that something British from my youth such as Woolworths and BHS has gone. We need to support our local businesses, large and small, while they are still around.
How many times have you ordered something on-line that has absolutely fantastic imagery. Only to be shocked that it is the size of a matchbox when it arrives. Or that you are advised that the delivery date has been delayed and hence your gift will not arrive in time for the special occasion.
What the collapse of BHS can teach us about locally produced products
Locally produced products from local businesses are often quality products. We trust the products and the person supplying them. They are made with quality ingredients, made with love, using traditional skills, at the heart of our community. Compare this with the pile-it-high-sell-it-cheap mentality. We prefer interesting, unusual products which customers love buying and giving.
I love to give something unique and made locally. This is often hard to find and is why I am launching the Homebaked Gift company.
