I attended an event to celebrate this day at my daughters school and a key point that came up from all the 4 speakers, who ranged from Members of Parliament to Medical research, was the difference between men and women is that Men believe & say YES they can do it (whether or not they are qualified) whereas women are always filled with self-doubt. My daughters deputy head even applied for her current job thinking “there’s no way I am going to get this position as I am too young and I’m not Catholic” Her attitude was “at least it will be good experience” - she had forgotten that she had amazing qualification and that she was incredibly driven!
Women are amazing at multitasking – keeping the family together & having a career.
I have always had the attitude of ‘Work to Live’ rather than the other way around and that is why I set up
so that mums like myself can still do something they love, from home but achieve a great work life balance.
For many women they have the fear to make changes – whether this is to retrain, set up their own business or go back to work after their children have flown the nest. For these women my advice would be to join one of the amazing networks available who will help you with your new direction.
