Networking groups are the ideal place to Talk, Share & Network. You may have an idea and need some encouragement or you may get some honest feedback which makes you realise that this may not be your light bulb moment.
How networking normally works is you are all given 1-2 minutes to sell yourself or your business. Once everyone has had their say then you mingle – this is the perfect time to hand out business cards and find out more. It may be that there’s no one in the room that session that will help find you customers but they may know someone who will – it’s all about getting out there.
One lady I met this week, Galia Orme, told me how she had launched her Choc Chick business with the help of her 2 young daughters. One that was brilliant at design and hence designed her packaging and one who was a people person and was amazing at the store taster sessions.
Galia impressed on me how important networking is. She also told me how she called a buyer at a large department store every day for a month until he finally spoke to her. He rewarded her persistence and not only did she start selling with this company but he gave her some great advice along the way. Her products are now selling in 600 Holland & Barrett stores & throughout the UK.
